What will come up when you type "Guangdong" on your browser? A beautiful place of flowers? Delicious Cantonese dim sum? Or its solid economic strength? All the answers will be found through short videos on the internet.
Since the launch of the "My Guangdong Story" event on August 2, numerous netizens have shot and submitted their wonderful short videos, recording their interesting stories with Guangdong province. As of today, the event has attracted over 5000 netizens and celebrities to participate. The short videos have received more than 31 million views on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok.
At present, some short videos have been published on the event's official website (https://www.newsgd.com/mygdstory). Although the voting channel has not been opened yet, people can watch these videos first in the "Entries" section. A Cantonese opera actress introduced her traditional purple costume; a young man living in Guangzhou tells his story with his grandmother who has Alzheimer's disease; a man photographed a butterfly that he accidentally captured while working in Guangdong.
In addition to the official website, these Guangdong-related videos can also be seen on the topic page of "My Guangdong Story" on Douyin. Users can search a hashtag #粤拍粤钟意 (My Guangdong Story) on Douyin and enjoy more videos.
Are you impressed by these video works? Maybe you can also shoot a vlog and join the challenge! After online voting, winners and nominees of some outstanding videos will be awarded prizes of between 2,000 to 10,000 RMB each.
