I Brief GDUT
1. General Info
Guangdong University of Technology is a high-level and cutting-edge multidisciplinary provincial university with engineering as its core, where engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law and art are well in coordinated development. Dating back to 1958 when the university set up undergraduate courses, the University had its present form by merging Guangdong Institute of Technology with Guangdong Institute of Machinery and South China Institute of Architecture (East Campus) in 1995. GDUT has 82 undergraduate programs, 8 First-level disciplines authorized to offer doctoral degree, 24 First-level disciplines authorized to offer master degree. More than 2,300 full-time teachers in the University support a full-time student population of over 46,000, including more than 36,000 undergraduate students and nearly 10,000 graduate students. II Eligibility
A. For Undergraduate Programs
1. Applicants should be healthy and well-behaved, and have a foreign citizenship and an educational background equivalent to that of the Chinese high school diploma. Applicants should abide by the laws and decrees of the Chinese government and related rules of university, honor the Chinese social morality and customs, and will not participate in any activities in China which are inappropriate to the capacity as a student.
2. Applicants should have good academic records and provide the following documents, including but not limited to.
2.1 High school transcripts (original/notarized copy in English or Chinese).
2.2 Transcripts of National/Regional official high school graduation examination
2.3 Applicants who have studied in China should provide the Discipline Record from previous school or university.
3. Applicants should be 18 or above by 29 August 2022. The applicants under the age of 18 shall provide certified documents of designation signed by their entrusted legal guardians in China.
4. Chinese Language Requirements
4.1 HSK (Level IV) certificate or above is required for applicants who would like to study in the programs of science and engineering; HSK (Level V) certificate is required for applicants who would like to study in the programs of liberal arts, economic and management.
4.2 For applicants who haven't reached the required Chinese language level, they can apply to study Chinese language in IEC first. After obtaining HSK (level IV) certificate or above, they can apply for the major study.
5. English Language Requirements
For non-native English speakers who apply for English-taught programs, they should provide a score report of English Proficiency test (TOEFL 80+/ IELTS 5.5+). For applicants who cannot offer the above-mentioned standardized English test results, they will be required to participate in an additional oral or written English test organized by IEC.
6. Study Requirements for Ethnic Chinese
If the applicant's parents or one of the parents are Chinese or the applicant has emigrated from Chinese mainland, Hongkong, Macao and Taiwan and acquired foreign nationality for, according to the No.12 Announcement of the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (2020), they must be naturalized for 4 years or more and have more than 2 years of residence in foreign countries during the past 4 years.
B. For Graduate Programs
1. Applicants should be healthy and well-behaved, and have a foreign citizenship. Applicants for Master's degree programs should have an undergraduate study background equivalent to that of the Chinese Bachelor's degree. Applicants for Doctoral programs should have a Master study background equivalent to that of the Chinese Master's degree.
Applicants should abide by the laws and decrees of the Chinese government and related rules of university, honor the Chinese social morality and customs, and will not participate in any activities in China which are inappropriate to the capacity as a student.
2. Applicants should have good academic records, and provide the following documents (including but not limited to)
2.1 Highest degree certificate or diploma (original/notarized copy in English or Chinese version).
2.2 Transcripts from highest degree education institution (original/notarized copy in English or Chinese version).
2.3 Personal statement and a brief research plan(800 words). Doctoral degree program applicants need to submit a brief introduction of research experience.
2.4 Two recommendation letters from scholars who have title of associate professor or higher.
2.5 Applicants who have studied in China should provide the Discipline Record from previous school or university.

III Application Procedures
1. Application method
1.1 Online Application
Visit http://iec.gdut.edu.cn/, click the "Online Application" and then proceed with the application, or visit https://apply.gdut.edu.cn/ and continue with a guideline. After registration, please complete the GDUT Application Form for International Students correctly and completely within the application period, and upload the supporting documents and pay the application fee as required.
1.2 Email Application
Applicants download the Application Form for International Students and complete it correctly and completely within the application period, then submit needed documents as related program required and pay application fee. If necessary, applicants may be required to submit extra materials.
Notes: Applications with incomplete documents or without application fee payment will not be processed. Application materials will not be returned. The application fee is not refundable.
Applicants, who are found to be in breach of academic ethics, professional ethics, honesty and trustworthiness, etc., will not be admitted or admission/study qualification will be cancelled after this breach has been verified.
2. Comprehensive Evaluation
2.1 Documents Review
Applicants should submit all information and documents accurately and completely before the deadline for the evaluation. Otherwise, the application will not be considered.
2.2 Examination & Interview
Applicants who pass the application document review will be admitted to the interview. And applicants will be informed of the interview arrangement when prepared.
3. Visa Application
Admitted applicants must bring their passport, Admission Letter, Visa Application Form (JW202/201), Physical Checkup Record Form as well as Blood Test Record to the local Chinese Embassy/Consulate or other official missions authorized by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China to apply for a student visa (X1/X2 visa).

3. Chinese Training Programs
The duration of Chinese Training Programs could be 1 month, 3 months, 1 semester or 1 year, and it should not exceed 2 years.
V Study Duration, Degree & Diploma
1. The duration of study for undergraduate programs in Guangdong University of Technology is 4 years (Architecture requires 5 years). The programs are delivered in Chinese and some of them taught in English. Bachelor's degree and graduation certificate will be awarded, if students finish all the required courses and pass the thesis defense.
2. Master degree programs in Guangdong University of Technology lasts 2-3 years, while doctoral degree programs last 3-4 years. The programs are delivered in Chinese, with part of them taught in English. A graduation certificate will be awarded to students who have met all graduation requirements. A master degree or doctoral degree will be awarded to students who have met the related requirements of degree conferment.
3. Chinese Training Programs provided to international students is from 1 month to 2 years. Study Certificate will be awarded when international students finish all the required courses.

Notes:
1) Admitted degree students must pay their first-year tuition fee during their registration in Guangdong University of Technology. Otherwise, they will not be allowed to register.
2) Application fee is not refundable.
3) Textbooks and other teaching materials will be charged according to actual costs.
2. On-campus Accommodation
2.1 International students who need to live in campus will be allocated by the university according to their majors. Deposit for on-campus accommodation is RMB1500/person, which will be refunded when check-out. Bills of campus WIFI service, beddings, water and electricity are not included. Fees above-mentioned are subject to change.

2.2 Off-campus dwelling
International students who need to dwell off campus must submit application for Off-campus Dwelling and obtain the consent from the school. Off-campus dwelling international students must sign formal and legal lease contract with the landlord.
3. Other fee
3.1 Insurance
International students must be medically insured throughout their entire planned period of study in China. Premium: RMB800/12 months, RMB400/6 months.
3.2 Medical checkup and visa fees
Medical checkup and visa or residence permit application fees will be charged according to actual costs by related institutions.
VII Scholarships for new degree students
For applicants with outstanding academic achievements, leadership qualities and special talents, we offer a range of scholarships and awards for new degree students.

Application time usually starts in March 2022 and ends in July 2022.

VIII Application,Admission & Registration
1. Application Period
1.1 Self-funded Applicants
Application time is from January 2022 to 15 July 2022. Chinese training program enroll students all year round.
2. Admission Period
Based on overall evaluation of application documents and interview, IEC will release the admission results by batch. Please follow our official website https://iec.gdut.edu.cn for latest notices.
3. Registration Period
Registration period for new degree students usually will be in early September. Please check your Admission Notice for specific registration time. Language students may check the Admission Notice for registration arrangement.
During registration, the admitted students should bring their ordinary passport (diplomatic passport and service passport will not be accepted), Admission Notice, Visa Application Form (JW202/JW201) and student visa. Original or notarized diploma or transcripts of your previous study period in English or Chinese should also be provided for rechecking during the official registration. Otherwise, the admission will be considered invalid.
IX Others
1. If the higher authorities issue new policies or for the impact of COVID-19, we will make corresponding adjustments and announce any changes in a timely way.
2. In case of any inconsistency occurs, the Chinese version of notice shall prevail. IEC reserves the right of final interpretation.
