On the afternoon of October 26, a special lecture on rule of law and safety education for international students was held at the 8th-floor lecture hall of the library on GDUT’s Dongfeng Road Campus. Co-hosted by the University Security Division, the International Exchange College and Yuexiu Branch of Guangzhou Public Security Bureau, the event aimed to enhance international students’ legal awareness and safety prevention capabilities.
Nearly 200 international students from over 80 countries and regions attended the lecture, along with police officers led by Yuan Yuan, Deputy Captain of the Exit-Entry Administration Brigade of Yuexiu Public Security Bureau, Liang Wenjin, Deputy Director of the University Security Division, and relevant college faculty. Ye Jiayi, head of the Student Affairs Office, presided over the event.
Based on the Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on the Administration of the Entry and Exit of Foreigners, Yuan Yuan explained China’s visa policies, residence rules, anti-drug laws and other legal knowledge covering daily scenarios for international students in China. Through case studies, she elaborated on visa application procedures, passport replacement protocols, penalties for illegal employment and electric bicycle safety, urged students to strictly abide by Chinese laws, and held on-site interactions.

Qiu Linyin, international student counselor of IEC, delivered a session on campus regulations and safety, including attendance rules, off-campus accommodation, disease prevention, religious affairs, fire safety, electric bicycle usage norms and student disciplinary measures, to help students clarify behavioral boundaries.

This school-police joint initiative has further strengthened international students’ legal awareness and risk prevention competence. The college will carry out regular safety education to make law-abiding awareness a fundamental part of international students’ safe study in China.
