13 professors of Guangdong University of Technology (GDUT) have earned the honour of being named in the list of "Highly Cited Chinese Researchers 2021"by Elsevier, a globally leading academic publication group, according to a list released on 14 April 2022.GDUT ranks 71st in China for number of cited researchers.

Elsevier's list of Highly Cited Chinese Researchers 2021 takes Scopus, a global authoritative citation and database index, as the data source of Chinese scholars' scientific research achievements, and adopts the selection method designed by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy, and finally obtains 4,701 Chinese scholars with the most global influence from 523 universities, enterprises and scientific research institutions, covering 10 fields of disciplines and 84 first-level disciplines of the Ministry of Education.
