On 9 April, President Qiu Xueqing received his first dose of the vaccines at university gymnasium in Higher Edu. Mega Campus,Guangzhou, from where GDUT officially launched the first phase of COVID-19 national mass vaccination drive.

"It was a well-organized process. My injection did not hurt at all, just like getting the other shot. COVID-19 vaccine is a turning point in this pandemic crisis and we encourage all students and faculties who qualify for this vaccination to get it,"said Qiu Xueqing after being inoculated.

In receiving the shot, Qiu Xueqing was joined by Vice President Yang Aimin and over 3000 students and faculties.
