In accordance with the Administrative Measures for the Enrollment and Cultivation of International Students by Schools (Order No. 42), Exit and Entry Administration Law of the People's Republic of China No. 57, the relevant regulations of the Exit and Entry Administration of Guangzhou Public Security Bureau and Guangdong University of Technology (hereinafter as University), the followings are hereby specially reminded and informed to international students during their studying at GDUT and living in China.
1.International students in China shall abide by the Chinese laws as well as university rules and regulations, respect Chinese customs and tradition. International student who violates the laws, regulations, and provisions of the State during his or her study in school, or violates university rules and regulations, or violates social ethics shall be subject to a punishment.
2.International students must apply for residence permit, change or extension timely in accordance with the relevant regulations of Exit and Entry Administration of Guangzhou Public Security Bureau. International student who violates relevant regulations shall be fined, detained or deported from China depending on their violation seriousness.
The minimum requirement of attendance is 80%. Attendance will be summed up on a monthly basis and attendance records will be regularly reported to Exit and Entry Administration of Guangzhou Public Security Bureau. Without satisfied attendance and examination scores, the Exit & Entry Administration (EEA) shall not process the extension of study residence permit for international students.
International student who fails to meet the requirement of attendance will be given a warning on the first occasion. On the second violation, international student shall be given a punishment ranging from duration of stay shorten, visa canceled to expelled from the university.
3.The university respects the ethnic customs and religious beliefs of international students, but does not provide venues for religious ceremonies. It is strictly forbidden to carry out missionary, religious gatherings and other religious activities in school.
4.International students must pay tuition, register and complete course selection within the stipulated time by the university, and must participate in course learning and corresponding examinations or quiz in accordance with the school's curriculum arrangement and teaching plan. For international students who late for class, leave the class early or are absent from school without reasons or approval, the university will start with a warning and, according to the circumstances, be entitled to expel the students.
5.Application fee shall be paid at one time before registration. The tuition fees of degree study programs will be charged for one academic year, and those who would drop out, transfer or be expelled during the academic year, will not be refunded the tuition fees. For degree study students who apply to suspend the specified academic year, the tuition fees are not refundable, but can be restored for further uses after the resumption of study.Degree study students who enroll in the middle of the academic year, must pay full tuition fees.The accommodation fee and other relevant expenses shall be paid according to the facts. Degree study students who are re-admitted to university after suspension, change majors or transfer from other university shall pay tuition fees according to the fee standard of their newly enrollment grade and major. In case where any balances caused, such fees shall be refunded for over-payment or students shall repay for deficiency.
6.Non-degree study students pay tuition fees according to the specific duration of study time, and other relevant fees are charged according to the actual situation. Non-degree study students who would drop out from university, transfer to another university or be expelled from the university, the tuition fees are not refundable. On-campus accommodation fees will be refunded in accordance with the duration of months which students reside in. For those who live on-campus less than one month, the accommodation fee will not be refunded, but the deposit will be refunded according to related regulations. Those who have already applied for a visa or residence permit can only request for a refund after changing their visa type or canceling their residence permit. Non-degree study students who violate Chinese laws and regulations, for examples, violations of provisions of public security administration or provisions of Exit and Entry Administration, shall be expelled from university.
7.On-campus dwelling international students must study and live according to the university's schedule. From 11:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.(except Friday and Saturday), it is time for students to stay in bed. The act of affecting others rest is strictly forbidden in the dormitory (including gathering, making noises or entertaining, etc.). It is strictly forbidden to return late, stay outside overnight, illegally use the electricity, allow outsiders to sleep in the dorm, etc. In case of any violations, the university will start with a serious warning and, according to the circumstances, be entitled to expel the students.
8.International students must abide by China's traffic rules. It is strictly forbidden to drive motor vehicles, motorcycles and high-power battery vehicles without a license. It is also strictly forbidden to over speed to ride and drunk driving.All kinds of electric vehicles (including electric power cart, scooters, balance vehicles and other non-motor vehicles) are prohibited from entering the campus, and are banned from charging or parking inside laboratory buildings, dormitories, teaching buildings and other university's buildings. It is also strictly forbidden to bring the battery into the dorm to charge it, or pull the cable from outside the building. In case of such violations, international students will receive a punishment according to the seriousness.
9.If an international student is unable to participate in course study or teaching activities due to illness or personal affairs, he/she must go through the procedures of asking for leaving. If international students need to stay on campus during the winter and summer vacations, they are required to apply in advance,according to the university regulations.Those who are absent from class more than 60 class hours within one semester (according to the actual teaching hours), or failed to come to university overdue the leave permit time for exceeding 2 weeks, or failed to participate in the teaching activities stipulated by the university for 2 consecutive weeks without asking for leave, shall be expelled from the university.
10.International students must comply with Chinese and university regulations on the use of computer networks, and are not allowed to log in to illegal websites, or spread harmful or false information. In case of any violations, the university will start with a serious warning and, according to the circumstances, be entitled to expel the students.
11.International students are not allowed to work, do business or engage in other business activities while studying at the University. In case of any violations, violators will be given a punishments ranging from academic probation to expulsion, depending on the case.
12.Without obtaining university's permission, international students should not hold events to celebrate their important traditional festivals on campus. In case of any violations, the university will take disciplinary measures to the organizer,and consider both the severity and the types of violations.
13.Alcohol abuse, fights, sexual harassment, watching pornographic videos, shopping or taking a ride without paying, damaging public and private property, thefts, gambling, taking drugs, drug trafficking, prostitution, go whoring and other illegal behaviors are strictly prohibited. In case of any violations, in addition to being punished by Chinese laws and regulations, the students will also be subject to disciplinary measures by the university.
14.It is strictly forbidden to store flammable, explosive, toxic and other hazardous goods. It is strictly banned to swim in rivers, lakes, ponds or unattended and unsupervised water areas. International students are not allowed to go to the places with hostile natural conditions, or participate in any dangerous activities such as expedition, rock climbing etc.. In case of any violations, the student shall bear all the responsibilities for the personal casualties, economic losses and other adverse consequences.
15.International students who violate Chinese laws and regulations and were considered as a crime, will be given a punishment according to the law. International students who violate the rules and regulations of the university, shall be disciplined and the specific implementation shall be carried out depending on the case and the consequences and in accordance with related rules of the university. In cases where a student receives twice disciplinary violations, or those who have been given a punishment of suspension and receive additional reprimands during the suspension, will be directly expelled from the university.
16.Once the penalties and disciplinary actions are decided, the university shall, in addition to announcing them to the party concerned, would notify in writing the student's nationals diplomatic and representative offices in China or his/her domestic dispatch institutions according to actual situation. An international student terminated his/her study at university shall be canceled residence permit andexit China within a prescribed time limit.
